#SleepApnea

I have a sleep study coming up to determine if I clench my teeth at night.

That really isn't something modern medicine has a cure for. You can protect your teeth with a mouth guard but that's it.

7. After a bit of an interrupted night - a sore septum night last night - with rough sleep from 5am when I took off the mask, I can't believe I used to cope on sleep interrupted by bad dreams and abrupt gasping wakings. I don't know how I did it.

So if you think you might have #sleepApnea #sleepApnoea get yourself checked out. If you need to sleep with a #CPAP it's not the end of the world. Some people sail through, I made hard work of it, but it works in the end.

This is an update on my experience of learning to sleep with a #CPAP machine. It's intended primarily as encouragement for anyone newly diagnosed with #sleepApnea #sleepApnoea, because for me, early on, reading about other people's success stories was the only way I stuck with it.

I was diagnosed November 2024, which I wasn't really expecting. I really really wasn't expecting to be told I needed to sleep with a CPAP machine and was a bit alarmed at the prospect esp being claustrophopbic cont'd

@pseudoscience
My wife has also joined the #cpap club recently.
She didn't snore, but does now intermittently. Apart from that she's adapted to the thing really well (most nights).
She was waking up a lot and rge test seemed to show #sleepApnea although she has chronic pain and we're both convinced that isn't fed into the algorithms.

Good luck!

Good morning.

I slept well, but was woken up by noises from Sacha's CPAP mask - and now she's using it she's started snoring as well - and I can't get back to sleep. I've got severe doubts about this #CPAP thing.

Sacha is at her last physiotherapy appointment this morning, so I'm driving her there as usual.
We need to get the rest of the hall, stairs and landing clear for the decorator who will be here at 8am tomorrow - so that's a job for this afternoon.

I'm feeling a bit 'flat' this morning. I need some energy, motivation and maybe a bit of joy in my life.

Anyway - enjoy your Wednesday.

A sleep clinic doc once told me that only about 10% of people who he treats for #sleepapnea commit to the behavioral changes he recommends as the best solution for symptom relief. Chief among the fixes: Lose weight. Instead, noisy CPAP machines have replaced cacophonous snoring for millions of sleep apnea sufferers. Ironically, they can contribute to the problem. This doctor tells of a better way. medium.com/wise-well/exciting-?sk=a0a5bad5bc00d47ec2b0011581f0c434 #sleep #health

@NormanDunbar Good morning Norman!

I'm expecting a fairly normal Sunday - off to the allotment later this morning. I've got some plants to plant, some beds to weed and I've got a cunning plan to restart the shed project.
My wife will be picking fruit and weeding as is her wont. She seems to have had a full night with her CPAP equipment - which will mean she's going to be really grumpy, or a new woman!

I've not dared look at the weather yet!

Have a good one yourself.
