The article about the recently-deported Korean #Hyundai engineers who said they have historically had a difficult time obtaining H-1B work #visas (see the 1st 🧵 post).

“‘It's extremely difficult to get an H-1B visa, which is needed for the battery engineers. (So) some people got B-1 visas or ESTA,’ said Park Tae-sung, vice chairman of Korea Battery Industry Assoc, referring to the Electronic System for Travel Authorization.”

Restrictions on H-1B visas could negatively afftect the #tech industry broadly, and are thus opposed by Elon Musk and other tech magnates.

“In a separate order, #Trump also directed the creation of a ‘gold card’ #immigration pathway that he said would…expedite #visas for foreigners who pay the US $1 million—
➡️ while allowing a company to pay $2 million to speed up the process for a foreign worker that it sponsors 👀

@sunumbral the #US population twice voted for #Trump, the second time he won the popular vote and electoral college. Of course, not everyone supports him but to those that did, they knew fully the risks when the voted for him; (including the role of Project 2025). Voting for him twice shows that the majority of voters in #USA back his views.

#Trump put out an EO yesterday imposing a $100,000 fee for H-1B work visas.

➡️ These are the #visas that the Korean engineers said they had a hard time getting. (Remember the mega #ICE raid in GA, where 400+ people were arrested & the Korean workers were deported? — The #trump admin claimed they had the wrong #business visas.)
