Watching lots of people learn why you don't buy cloud tied equipment. Ecoflow has a cloud outage and everyone is discovering their UPS, aircon, emergency batteries and the like are no longer functional.

Now maybe they'll understand what will happen if the vendor goes bust or China/Taiwan kicks off or Trump and Xi have a pissing contest.

Testing the new #Battery and/or #Solar-powered #Ecoflow #Wave3 A/C-heater-dehumidifier I bought for hurricanes and power outages.

So far with just that running in the lanai, it's keeping the room a nice 71℉! It's not that hot outside today, but the lanai has a metal (insulated) roof, so it tends to get hot w/sun. Also, it's keeping it at ~60% Humidity too. All that and it's running less than 300w!

Happy camper so far. (Cardboard box to insulate vibrations from wooden floor else harmonics! 😳)

#Eskom se P*es!

Just unboxing my #BalconySolar equipment from #Ecoflow #Powerstream. It's like the 'Apple' of balcony solar.

For all those who are renting and thought they cannot have a solar system, think again! These superslim cables avoid you having to drill holes in your landlord's walls - they just go through the window.

My panels will go onto the roof and I am doing this to supplement my 5.5 kW island-system and reduce the Boiler costs.

Um, I’ve got gold ball sized hail and a tornado warning, and my golf league was cancelled, but on a positive note, my #Ecoflow solar battery acts as a great UPS for my home lab rack, since I have no power, but I have internet :mindblown:

Refurbished #EcoFlow alternator charger and 1.9 kWh battery: $379. The battery itself is 1/2 to 1/3 the cost of the official expansion battery, and it’s got double the capacity.

The only problem I can see is that the draw on the external battery may be limited and of course it’s not exactly plug and play.

The more meta issue I have is I’m kind of just buying stuff without a real goal in mind. #Solar #OffGrid

Continued thread

I got my remote security rig assembled and configured. Kill-a-watt confirms 25-30 watts. I ran it for a day to check kWh measurement against real time and it checked out.

So yesterday I fully charged the EcoFlow, plugged the "rig" into that, and pulled the AC plug. The readout suggested a 22 hour runtime. That's less than the 33 I calculated, but there's overhead and waste associated with DC to AC to DC, plus heat and cooling fans.

Anyway it ran for 20.5 hours before I plugged it back in. Still had 13% battery and ~3 hours runtime. Very positive test, I'm pleased w/ the results.
