One card in #HomeAssistant decided it would be transparent against my wishes. I checked the card's theme, I checked the dashboard's theme, I looked in YAML... I can't find any reason for that one card to be transparent. It's a bit of a problem, as it's not very readable, and looks like crap when all of it's siblings are black.

As @brad mentioned, now that I've added more esp32 proxies for using in my #HomeAssistant Bermuda BLE Room Presence, I'm finding that the detection of the correct room is becoming a problem. Mostly because the position of the proxies is not great.

The bedroom one is behind a mirror (where there is an outlet) and the living room one is not far behind a wall, but there are windows to the yard where the RF from my phone could easily be stronger to the living room than to the bedroom one.

The ideal location of these esp32 proxies would be the ceiling, where the RF performance would be best, but not easy to do when you're dealing with wired power in a home where running wires isn't the easiest.

I've spent some time with calibration and it's pretty tricky getting values right when physical obstacles and line of sight issues are part of the challenge of where to put them.

Learning that bluetooth_proxy and esp32_ble_tracker are NOT the same thing and that the difference is that the proxy will actually proxy bluetooth connections to #HomeAssistant and it includes esp32_ble_tracker, but enabling only esp32_ble_tracker does not turn on bluetooth_proxy.

So if you don't need your esp32 devices to proxy active bluetooth connections (I don't, at this time) just use the esp32_ble_tracker active: true setting.

I think this is correct based on what I read this morning.

@keir Hehe — I’ve never had that happen, though. But I bet it does from time to time.

But setting up #HomeAssistant (and figuring out how I do it), adding every device (in this large house) again, and re-creating every single piece of automation and control, is going to take suuuuch a long time! 😓

I really wish I could make one page of my #HomeAssistant public. I put together a great dash with my gaming stats, what I'm currently playing, and just for fun - a few of my favorite franchises trigger additional art to appear. I would love to have all that on a publicly available page I could put a link to on my profile.

Bought a couple smart outlets so I can track power use of some kitchen appliances, but simply cannot get to work with #HomeAssistant. They use Matter over Thread, which should be fine via my Apple TV, but nope. I even bought a second SkyConnect dongle and still nothing. I was able to add them to Apple Home, so they work, but not what I want. These are the only Thread devices I have, so I’m happy to reset things, but I don’t see any obvious options for removing the existing network to start over

My updated #HomeAssistant automation worked. Now I know even though the dishwasher stopped, it was almost done.

It's very annoying how often it stops sometimes. This is the third time today, but now we're not home to resume it and it will have shut down on its own by the time we get to it.
