@anirvan the thing we keep getting wrong is the focus on individual actions versus systems. It’s the same as recycling our cans when a handful of companies are responsible for the majority of carbon emissions.
@anildash @anirvan I see a vast number of words (some of them, probably, by llms) written to relate the energy cost of an llm query to the energy cost of doing a google query or brushing ones teeth or leaving the TV on standby or the size of a football field, which I'm sure is very useful if you have no conception of how much energy 2.9 W hour is, but honestly a bit patronising if you do. What I don't see is much about where this 2.9 number came from in the first place.
