Anil Dash
What I learned from Prince and Muhammad Ali was that it’s possible to love yourself so much that everybody else does, too.

Anil Dash
In 2014, I got the chance to interview Steve Case, and we touched on AOL's origins as Quantum Link (a dial-up service for Commodore computers), the wild cultural legacy of the CD-ROM marketing blitz, and of course the era-defining impact of the Time Warner merger. https://www.anildash.com/2014/02/26/talking_to_steve_case/

Anil Dash
In honor of today's news that AOL will soon be ending dial-up service, here's the 1996 collaboration between Prince and Kate Bush, which begins & ends with a tribute to the AOL sign-on experience, based on Prince's mid-90s habit of dropping in on fans in our weekly AOL chats: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wxJ2SCxMy1g

Anil Dash
There could not be a more opportune time to make a competitor to GitHub, especially one grounded in community and accountability. Git was not meant to be centralized; “pull requests” are not actually an open standard and throwing code over the wall at others is not actually social coding.

Anil Dash
@kylepauljohnson hey, I've been reading up on your older posts about using Sonos speakers as Mac audio outputs, and they've been super helpful! Thanks for taking the time to write everything up so thoroughly. I'm thinking of getting an old Ray and an optical-out adapter and giving it a go. Anything new to know since your write-ups? (I know Sonos has had its ups & downs software-wise since then.)

Anil Dash
Is it still correct that you can easily use HomePods as speakers with an Apple TV and they work great with no latency, but you can't do that with a Mac?

Anil Dash
A quick weekend build of a simple built-in bookshelf, it mirrors a similar shelf on the opposite side wall. The goal was to go strong and simple, and the whole thing only took about 6 hours, which felt good for a non-fancy project!
