>> The #Green Party of #Canada has tumbled to a new low in #voter support in a quarter century.

In Canada's Parliamentary system, their single seat now still has at least some value in horse trading with a minority government.

In the #US Presidential system, the #GreenParty of #USA only spoils the elections for the rest of us by siphoning votes away from #Democrats. People who vote for Green in the General elections know that those votes are futile. Yet they just throw it away 😡

Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for eastern Ontario and western Quebec.

Eastern Ontario could see wind gusts up to 110 kilometres an hour and large hail, it said. There is also the risk of a tornado because of a cold front moving through the area.

The temperature could drop from 24 C Tuesday afternoon to –2 C overnight.

The #Green Party of #Canada has tumbled to a new low in #voter support in this millennium. Two #elections ago, the Greens received almost 1.2 million votes, 6.6%, and won 3 seats. Yesterday, they received less than a quarter of a million votes, about 1.2%, and hung on to a single seat.

1/8th of all Green #votes were cast in that single #electoral district. The rest was smittered over 231 further districts with Green candidates. Canada has 343 electoral districts.

For those outside Canada. The Conservative Party Leader lost the Parliamentary seat, he has held since 2004.

How?

His parliamentary seat is in Ottawa area, the country's capital. The city was terrorized for 2 months by the 2022 Truckers' Convoy protests. The government had to implement the Emergencies Act to have police/army free up Ottawa neighbourhoods.

The leader had pictures taken of himself giving fucking donuts to the protesters.

That's how.

Well, look at what #Canada just proved to the world.

You CAN swap out an unpopular incumbent just before a major election with a largely unknown candidate (and in this case, a political neophyte) - and still win.

Now what could it be about Mark Carney that Kamala Harris lacked?
