Okay I finally did a full write up of the event I went to just before Christmas at @meta in San Francisco in which they laid out their plans for integrating Threads with the Fediverse. It's very long and thorough. Love to get people's thoughts. http://plasticbag.org/archives/2024/01/how-threads-will-integrate-with-the-fediverse/
The post is getting referenced on The Verge right now, which is interesting and will probably cost me a fortune in hosting fees. https://www.theverge.com/2024/1/11/24035256/a-peek-at-the-threads-activitypub-roadmap
Another good piece from Yahoo! Finance following up on the blog post above. It has lots of nice fediverse news and insights in it. Worth a read. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/threads-allow-mastodon-users-end-155111092.html
@tomcoates Have you considered having a newsletter
@danhon I mean the problem is that after blogging for ten years I got sort of burned out with writing. Honestly, mate, I just want enough money to live comfortably on an a project I can quietly give a shit about. I don’t want to spend my life selling myself any more.
@tomcoates that would be nice
@tomcoates That’s what you get for writing a great piece. Thanks for putting that out there.
@tomcoates That’s from TechCrunch (Sarah Perez), syndicated to Yahoo.
@gruber ah thanks. I might repost.
@tomcoates It's hit https://tldr.tech/tech/2024-01-15 too now. It's a good, thoughtful piece of writing.
Commiserations on your hosting bill, I guess?
@dorward Hahah. Thanks.
@dorward Still quite a nice read!
