Nothing like a 13-hour #PowerOutage to remind me how dependent I am on electricity Fortunately, most of it was overnight. Transformer blew underground downtown, according to news reports, affected ~10K ppl in #SanFrancisco.
Spouse (Ziggy) went to bed early, while I tried to figure out how to share my Pixel phone's connection to my iPad. This morning, Ziggy pulled out his camping stove to make us tea.
Anyway, power's back on now; thanks #PGE workers. Now fix our aging infrastructure, please.
Most seriously, the #PowerOutage meant I couldn't use my #CPAP machine, so it was a hard night. (I have moderate obstructive #SleepApnea.)
Ziggy's looking into getting us a UPS, not just for that but other things. Our #landline phone didn't work during the power outage either, which was a surprise. (Yes, we still have one, through Sonic, which has been very fast and reliable for Internet access.)
@funcrunch UPSes are great! I find that for extended power outages, lithium-ion–based backup generators last longer (but are significantly more expensive).
