These three brilliant "human computers" were necessary for keeping NASA's rockets in orbit. And yet, they were denied official recognition (and sometimes even a proper toilet!) because they were and !

It shows how bigotry and discrimination often require willful ignorance, disinformation, and even breaking the laws, to persist. We know that these great were way smarter than the system that conspired to keep them grounded.
