The reason artists don't deserve to extract money from people for copying their work is the same reason artists don't get to hold little old ladies at gunpoint and steal their purses. You have to make a living somehow, right? Wrong. Nobody should have to make a living. Artists are being wronged because people are being wronged. We're capable of taking care of everyone, but we falsely believe that the only thing that matters is whether someone can afford our help. Hurting them for no reason, just to force money to be worth more than it is. So if an artist can't make a living without engaging in unsavory activities such as reporting someone for sharing your work without permission, they should still be able to live, because it's our duty to make sure everyone can live, and we're failing at that badly, to prop up the filthy rich.

#Education and #welfare payments both have positive economic returns.

I am not kidding. Look it up.

If you give a poor person 1$ it has a return of about 1.34$ (AU).

Education is a harder one to estimate, for a doctor it's a return of 3.5 at least or up to 20% per annum.

Considering doctors also heal the public, keep people healthy and so on they increase the return in other ways.

You're never wasting money by giving it to the poor, housing them, or paying for education. It's an INVESTMENT.

Sustainable Workplaces?

How we might combine social-economic #transition with #ClimateChange adaptation

The growth of capitalist #economy can’t continue forever: the natural resources of wealth have been exploited for centuries. And humankind is more and more threatened by the destruction of world climate. Not only through #GlobalWarming and water scarcity, but also through land use change and destruction of #biodiversity on this planet by competing enterprises.

The market economy, subsidized by the state, has permanently disturbed the sensitive system of ecological interrelations by massive burning of fossil energy (coal, oil, gas), eg. leading to melting ice caps. To prevent further tipping points, we have to relearn how to run the economy in a sustainable way. Meaning: self-organized, decentralized resource planning and services instead of big business monopolies. Therefore we have to start, where the destruction of nature originates: in the workplace.

Whether in production or manufacturing, #transport logistics, education, cultural and #welfare sectors, #healthcare industry, construction or agriculture and trade – there’s a wide range of opportunities to locally resist the destruction of nature by industry. (...)

A quotation from Teddy Roosevelt

We are face to face with new conceptions of the relations of property to human welfare, chiefly because certain advocates of the rights of property as against the rights of men have been pushing their claims too far. The man who wrongly holds that every human right is secondary to his profit must now give way to the advocate of human welfare, who rightly maintains that every man holds his property subject to the general right of the community to regulate its use to whatever degree the public welfare may require it.

Theodore Roosevelt (1858-1919) American politician, statesman, conservationist, writer, US President (1901-1909)
Speech (1910-08-31), “The New Nationalism,” Osawatomie, Kansas

"Why don't they (stop this madness)?"

BECAUSE IT'S EXACTLY WHAT THEY WANT!

"In chaos, you can steal." - Randi Rhodes.

Kill off the poor so you don't have to "support" them anymore. #Covid #Measles #BirdFlu #NIH #DeptOfEducation #Welfare #Eugenics

"You could reduce violent crime by aborting every *black* baby in the country. That would be despicable thing to do, but it would work." - Reagan's Education Secretary Bill "Place'yer Bets" Bennett.

It's what they WANT. 🤬

@MutualAidNet
I'm out here again. :(
I have had an unexpected expenses that have put me in the hole again. While I was off work, I noticed aa minor medical issue which sent me to urgent care. While I was expecting the uber rides (ssuper cheap because close by) I was not expecting the $40 copay, or the 29 dollars I had to spend on meds. Between the ubers and cat food, that puts me $100 in the hole.

This said, I have no groceries, or sick room supplies. (Gatorade/clear soda, etc, and would like at least $50 for those
Thanks y'all.
