#lispyGopherClimate #interview w/ @bandali
communitymedia.video/w/tPo3DYd
#archive at 8pm Boston time Tuesday / 0UTC Wednesday.

Amin Bandali gopher://kelar.org/1/~bandali/ kelar.org/~bandali/ of #emacsconf / GNU

I expect to talk about #emacsconf #smallnet #smallweb #gopher #software packaging,

viz #emacs/conf @eduardoochs ' eev and @ramin_hal9001 's view of emacs' linux-app-platform

Lots of things. I want to know what Amin's @corwin's-dungeon-mode is.

Two questions about hacker communities

Hey sorry for the late announcement, if anyone has any questions for @bandali

"Free/libre software activist and computing scientist. Wears a few hats around the GNU Project. Volunteers with the Free Software Foundation."

Possibly about #emacs #emacsConf but anything really. CC @lightweight (would you mind boosting for the NZ crowd).

The Emacs Maintainer Stefan Kangas wanted to give a presentation at EmacsConf a few years back called Don't write that package! or: How I learned to stop worrying and love emacs-devel, but didn't end up submitting a presentation. I remember being disappointed by this, because the premise sounded very interesting.

I have been thinking about steeling the idea for this years EmacsConf, giving it a personal spin. IIUC Stefan intended to argue that contributing to Emacs directly makes implementing features a lot easier than having to dance around with hooks and advice. That is certainly true, but I am thinking about adding praise for "code gossip" culture, where you just "fork" a script someone else published and treat it as your own, without caring about upstream divergence.

Preliminary title: "Stop making packages".

Does this sound like something interesting? My fear is that, especially in combination with the title, it might appear too negative.

This week, DJ @damaru of the Evolution Revolution will talk, including about using emacs as a #writer.

I will share my #eev mode experience, and @eduardoochs should be in #emacsconf on IRC.

I'm going to mention incredible show artist @prahou with reference to gef's last episode.

@mdhughes @rat

@sacha hey, I'm having @damaru on the #lispyGopherClimate tomorrow (and @eduardoochs is going to hang out live in #emacsconf on #irc) -

I was just wondering if you had anything you would like to see an early-emacs-days #writer do with #emacs in our community particularly (noting your sachachua.com/topic/#topic-ind ).

Sorry, gef, for volunteering you for lab experiments ;p

Honestly my goal is to see whether #eev anchors work for his flow, and whether it's-possible to use my own 'easy' graph stuff.

Also Cross-Referencing Editor Facility Kent wrote at Open University in England one summer on the Zmacs/Zwei #emacs substrate.

Live chat in #lambdaMOO as always, and I will also be watching #emacsconf on #irc. Please do engage with Kent directly live (through my voice)

@ramin_hal9001 This is TOTALLY BANANAS. What an accomplishment. I congratulate you and I thank you.

Astonishing at #EmacsConf in December to see such (apparently) sudden progress on this front, and from multiple independent efforts!

Who knows where it will all go, but man, it sure would be cool to look back in ten years and see that it all snowballed into something that injects truly long-term sustainability into #Emacs.
