@Aepasek a couple of negatives for me: in my institution, the #eduroam standards are waaay out of date, and a bunch of extra security measures have been put in place. As a linux user, I am not allowed to have an ethernet connection to the network, everything must be eduroam wifi. Consequently, this means that lots of ports are closed and things like IMAP email clients won't work. It is super frustrating to not be able to send email in my normal app, and that I have to use a web client. I have had to beg and plead for specific ports to be opened for my machine, such as ssh for git usage (one of the things I actually need to teach my modules!).

To be fair, this is not #eduroam's fault, it is just my institution, but the #MS only mindset is crushing. Our IT department is wildly under-resourced as well, and I have to be very strategic in picking my battles with them.

Connecting to other eduroam networks when traveling is also a little bit challenging because of these different policies. It means fiddling in the settings, changing certificate policies, this kind of thing.

Beyond that, academic work (and all my design work —including lots of printing) has been on various Linux systems for over 10 years. It can be a little bumpy sometimes, but I find it to be an essential way of Staying with The Trouble.

In other words, MS is now harvesting all of that code that people have hosted on GH for years and years. It's literally that simple and if you don't see or understand that it's being done, then I'm not sure what to tell you.

Das ist eine Studie von 2022 und das Rätsel ist also nicht neu gelöst!

Ich habe #MS und klicke immer sofort auf solche bahnbrechenden Headlines, die sich dann zu 99% als olle Kamellen herausstellen!!!

Ich wünsche mir, dass sowas nicht mehr gepostet wird, denn das erzeugt bei Betroffenen Hoffnung, die dann direkt wieder zerstört wird!
