Driving today, I happened to listen to #Parliament (I know, stupid thing to do, right?), the reading of a bill to do with renewables or net-zero, and some #numpty from the #LNP mob took the floor to #debate the bill from (and I quote) an engineering perspective (end-quote). Well…

He started talking about social licences, then moved on to lack of profitability, dropped a few sentences about offshore wind turbines being an eyesore (who’d wnat to look at them all day from their beach side living rooms? Dear, dear.) and ended up talking about poor marketability… that’s when I switched off. Judging by the content of his speech, he wouldn’t know what #engineering is if it smacked in full in the face.

Are all these anti-renewable dunces complete and utter idiots or are they having us on? The former I think.

I seriously think that if more of the electorate heard their representatives debating bills and at QT, 80% of these members of Parliament would’nt get back in at the next election. Perhaps we ought to have street corner speakers blarring away for the entire sitting of Parliament (a la North Korea) to wake the electorate. We’d start with the Feds and then State and Territories. We’d only have to do it for a couple of days I reckon.

#Littleproud told the #LNP annual convention #nuclear had to be part of the country's #energy mix.

It would help with food security & the environment, he said.

#NuclearPower & #energyalternatives dominated discussions at the convention's opening day on Friday, following the near-unanimous passing of a resolution to abandon net zero by 2050.

Watching #TheShot / #TheSundayShot.

Great content, great guests.

The failures of internet connectivity between them all make viewing the show pretty unpleasant.

The failure to provide Australia with even quality late-20th century internet is on #TonyAbbott, #MalcolmTurnbull and their corrupt #LNP business-mates.

If this trash connectivity is normal on #Zoom etc then regular users have my commiserations.

For me, this Zoom-like format is currently too disjointed to watch for pleasure.

If you can stand beyond the pale advertising on this once-useful news website, you'll enjoy this delicious "ripping the #LNP a new arsehole" piece by the inestimable Amy Remeikis.

"The knee-jerk reaction is yet another example of the lack of political maturity that exists not just in the Coalition, but with its leadership...

"Yet, once again, here we are with a knee-jerk reaction that makes no sense in reality, or on the politics, being treated as a serious policy position.

"The louder signal is that the Coalition will continue its march off the political cliff. "

@Qldaah
Aaahhhgggrrrrrr… another bad blood pressure day. One day I’m going to take the #LNP Lbs and Nats, all of them, to Court on account of how they’re cutting days off my life with every stupid utterance as well as for the waste of public moneys spent on their education.

@John
So much for ‘representing’ the people of NSW, eh? How can a politician stand there and oppose protests when this ‘right’ is the only way for the electorate to voice their opposition to a govt they they cannot sack before the next election?

Who would’ve thank it — from a #Labor govt?

There are signs (Australian, Canada, the UK) that Labor organisations are slipping well into the centre-right of politics to the dismay of their traditional base. This does not augur well for the future of the Party(ies) IMO. Not that would mind a demise of Labor if it was replaced by a mainstream centre-left Party I could support. Unfortunately, the IND are just frustrated #LNP supporters, just as the #Greens are frustrated #Labor supporters. What we need is a united ticket progressive party standing firm for Social democracy, the Environment and workers rights. And willing to go hard with a courageous legislative agenda. We need to stop pussy-footing around here, I think.
