Today I learned that ICE (the agency in the US) was only established in 2003. Like, 22 years ago. I just did not realize it hadn't existed since the beginning of policing in the US.

(This is a note about societal norms, too, and expectations shifted.)

"A Democrat and a Republican will team up to try to ban masked law enforcement in Oregon"

"Their proposal would prohibit law enforcement officers from wearing face coverings and would require them to wear 'official uniforms' with badge numbers and names. It would not apply to SWAT teams or undercover police officers as they currently operate."

So far, 9 agencies have terminated #union contracts that covered >445k #FederalWorkers from the #EPA, US #CoastGuard, #FEMA, #GSA, the Departments of #HHS, #Agriculture & #VeteransAffairs, & parts of #ICE & #Citizenship & #Immigration Services.

“This is literally the largest act of union busting in American history,” said Mike Podhorzer, a former political director of the #AFLCIO. “There’s not another time when that many people lost their union.”

Here's the judge who was woken up at 2:30am on Labor Day Holiday weekend to prevent the government from sneakily deporting 600 kids to Guatemala.

Government claims: reunification with parents.

Plaintiffs said: "children express being afraid of return because they experienced neglect or abuse from one or both of their parents."

Thank you Judge Sparkle Sooknanan.

Where the judge is born matters little with respect to law, but I'm pumped she's from Trinidad and Tobago!
