A two part thread, including a quiz!. Trying to decide which dress to make.

All of these dresses are from 1931 or 1932. The silk chiffon will be light and airy counter point to the silk crepe. So I can either have a bit a structure to contrast the light chiffon against the crepe's weight if I want. Or I can go with chiffon as being the dominate fabric and the crepe as a slip.

Will change or design my own sleeves for number 4 or 5.

Including an image of the fabric for reference.

Dress 1 - a pencil skirt with a lightweight, patterned top, trimmed in the conteasring skirt fabric. The patterned top shows through a cut out on the left hip, with a tie above it on the hip. Dress 2 - a slim skirt with an arch shaped gore cut in to the center top. The waistband is triple high, with buttons. A faux ruffle from the patterned top pokes through, as if the blouse ends are peaking through. Dress 3 - all over patterned in a shear fabric. The blouse is loose over the chest rather than relatively fitted, with a rose in center front catching the gathers. The waist is caught in a solid color belt. The skirt is slim with a flaired hem.
4 - a evening gown with a rosette on one shoulder. Bodice is loosely fitted, skirt is flaired at the hem. Bias cut ruffles start at mid thigh and curve down toward the knee. 5 - a print dress with a color contrasting neckline in scallops with a tie. The bodice loosely blouses over the waist. The skirt had 2 tiers, with a goredet flairing at center front.
Fabric choice. Red silk crepe and red floural silk print chiffon.

Whereas Proust luxuriates in the slow accretion of human experience, McEwan homes in on the singular event... Well, I am old enough now to observe peers in their middle years, including some disappointed and hurt ones. I suggest it is McEwan who gets life right. The surprise of middle age, and the terror of it, is how much of a person’s fate can boil down to one misjudgement.

On my last Saturday in #Sydney, I went to see a show at the Opera House: "#Gatsby at the green light".

It was an enjoyable enough variety/acrobatics show with great performance and good music. Tickets were 70€, and while I payed for the "Once in a Lifetime" experience, i would not come for more.

Watching an actual play would have been nicer, but also too expensive. So I'm pretty happy with this
