I'm #Black, #trans, have a uterus, and am in a same-sex marriage. I'm well aware of the threats that #Trump and the #Republicans pose to marginalized people.
I still don't support the #Democrats, and will not vote for #KamalaHarris.
You're welcome to disagree with my stance, but shaming me or other progressives for abstaining or voting for third-party candidates is not helpful.

I posted the above story in 2018, but my feelings didn't change when it came time to vote in the 2020 general election, and they still haven't.

@funcrunch Good luck with all that. This white, cisgender, man will be voting for Kamala Harris because I believe all families should be treated with the same love and respect as mine.
You said it best already...
"Since 2016 in particular I have been told that refusing to vote for Democrats — or not voting at all — is an act of privilege and oppressive toward women, people of color, and the LGBTQ community."
You helped elect Trump in 2016. And are complicit in the overturning of Roe v Wade, a conservative SCOTUS super majority, and loss of LBGTQ+ rights across the US.
Your intentions do not matter. Your principled stand still resulted in standing on the necks of the oppressed... regardless of your rationalization that you are wearing only socks.
The shame is well deserved.
@funcrunch thanks for this, it’s helpful perspective
@funcrunch I think liberals are so desperate to move on from Trump that they’re eagerly supporting Kamala despite the fact that she would just be maintaining the systems and institutions that ALREADY oppress people.
The American empire does so much awful shit to people all over the world for the benefit of U.S. capital and Kamala is just going to be the new face of that.
Propping her up like some warrior for the people is pure idealism.
