I've spent the last few months bringing my 23+ years of blog archives up to date and modernizing them, while fixing the links and missing images, etc. Tonight's fun discovery is Marc Andreessen affirmatively citing my work as "the smartest thing anyone has said" about the inevitability of a federation of independent networks connected by an open standard to win against Facebook and similar walled gardens. It is, of course, possible that I got dumber at precisely the same rate that Facebook made him richer, but intellectual rigor requires that we at least entertain some alternate theories as to how his position completely changed while mine stayed the same for all these years.
