54 years ago today, the brilliant & delightful Steve Crocker, then at UCLA, circulated to the nascent Network Working Group a "Request for Comment" about Host Software. This was #RFC 1, the first of what are now 9411 technical documents defining (and ever evolving) the Internet as we know it.
To me, the Internet is the RFC series, even more than the computers that implement them.
So: Happy 54th birthday, Internet!
