Honors & Awards

  • HackMIT - "Best Myo" Award

    Thalmic Labs

Awarded 1st place by Myo for our portable version of Dance Dance Revolution. Just strap a Myo onto your shin and start dancing. We built a custom iOS app that generates arrows based on the beats per minute of the song. We detected what direction you were tapping your foot in by using machine learning and figuring out the acceleration differences between left, right, top, and bottom taps.

  • PennApps - IBM BlueMix 2nd Place

    IBM

Awarded 2nd place prize for Codify, a crowdsourced multiplayer coding translation game. Codify pairs people up to translate code from one language to another. User A can post an API she wants translated from python to java. We crowdsource the code translations through a competitive game, checking to see if the code compiles and testing inputs to make sure the original code and translated versions have the same output. If they do, we assume the translated code is correct.

  • PennApps - Indiegogo 1st place, Dropbox 3rd Place

    Indiegogo, Dropbox

Awarded first place sponsor prize from Indiegogo and 3rd place sponsor prize from Dropbox for EduGames. EduGames is a native iOS platform that allows teachers to create, without any programming knowledge, multiplayer, real time iOS educational games tailored to their curriculum. We created two working game templates and a web-app that pairs up with the iPad app.

Deliverers make money off tips in the app. Technologies used were Twilio API (for notifications that food was arriving), Locu API (to populate restaurants and menus), Venmo API (to pay for food + tip), FireBase (for real time updates), Google Maps (to show location of deliverers/people), and Facebook API (to login).
